"Wolvercote Cricket Club (WCC) is an inclusive, friendly club, and we welcome all ages and abilities. We play competitive cricket in the right spirit – we play to win, but we always have a smile on our faces. We pride ourselves on being a big-hearted and open club."
Wolvercote Cricket Club’s Youth Section provides kids from the ages of 9-19 with the opportunity to play club cricket. Our youth set up is fast-growing and in 2016 won Chance to Shine’s Satellite Club of the Year Award. This was awarded for our work with Cherwell School in providing kids an opportunity to play cricket where there were previously limited opportunities.
Our matches are played at Cutteslowe Park, Kennington, and St Edward’s School. We welcome players of all abilities and cricketing experience. All age groups have a busy season starting with an 8 week indoor pre-season, and an outdoor season which consists of a minimum of 10 matches, a variety of friendlies, and training sessions that go into the mid summer holidays.
**Free Girls Cricket in 2024**
We have recently been awarded a Sports England grant to fund a girls set up in 2024. This will provide cricket both in the winter and summer free of charge to girls including no match fees, membership, etc to improve accessibility and reduce barriers.

Player Bursary Financial Support
At Wolvercote CC we recognise that cricket incurs an associated financial outlay and that sacrifices, and financial contributions are made to support and enable a player to participate. We aim to support those families where cost may be a barrier by providing the opportunity to apply for financial assistance. We ask that those interested please apply via the Player Bursary Financial Support – Application Form.
In recent years, the formation of the adult 4th XI has been for the purpose of providing youth players with the opportunity to play and transition into adult cricket. We have three principles in our 4th XI:
Dedicated youth selection
The 4s exist to give youth players a pathway into adult cricket, with 5
youth players selected by the coaches in the squad every week.
Everyone contributes
We do our best to ensure that every player gets a bat or
a bowl on any given Saturday.
The right spirit
We play to have fun – and take pride in the positives we draw from every game, even if we don’t
win.
