Wolvercote U15 beat Sonning and East and West Hendred to win U15 Hundred Finals Day
On a sunny day at Didcot CC (Boundary Park) on the 1st of September, the U15 Hundred finals day took place.
In Semi Final 1, Wolvercote won the toss and elected to bat. Wolvercote scoring 168-2 off their hundred balls thanks to Danny Robinson (40*), Archie Ricks (32*), Olly Beard (35*) and Hugo du Plessis (21). In response East and West Hendred made 100-9 off their hundred balls with Alfie Atkins (23*), Jacob Realey (22) and Charlie Binning (16) contributing. Wolvercote therefore secured a place in the final.
In Semi Final 2, Great Rissington won the toss and elected to field. Sonning scoring 135-9 off their hundred balls thanks to Abhiveer Rawat (22), and Joshua Finch (34*). Harry Weston being the pick of the bowlers for Great Rissington taking 4-21. In response, Sonning took early wickets to gain momentum as they restricted Great Rissington to 49-9 off their hundred balls, with Shenul Widanapathirana taking 3-13 to secure a place in the final for Sonning.
In the third and fourth play off, East and West Hendred batted first against Great Rissington where they scored 155-2 off their hundred balls. This was thanks Barney Bosley (35* off 20), Charlie Binning (30*), and Jacob Realey (29* from 19). In response Great Rissington made 119-4 off their hundred balls. This was with contributions from T Cassidy (26*), Hix (21) and Weston (17*).
In the final, Sonning won the toss and elected to field. Wolvercote scoring 163-3 off their hundred balls thanks to Danny Robinson (31*), Evan Cowley (21*), Hugo du Plessis (24), Archie Ricks (21), and Olly Beard (36*). In response Sonning made 97-6 off their hundred balls with Safwan Shahid (22*) and Shenul Widanapathirana (17*) top scoring. Wolvercote therefore secured a 66 run win after an impressive team performance, which saw them win the U15 Double after winning U15 County Cup earlier in the season.
The presentation of the trophy and medals was conducted by Kieren Bushnell (who thanked Didcot CC for hosting, the umpires, coaches, scorers and all the teams for a great day of cricket.
